Kybella is the trade name for a treatment that breaks down fat using a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring salt found in human bile. Deoxycholic acid aids in the rupturing and destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, the cell contents are removed by your immune cells.

When Kybella injections are used on the fat beneath your chin, it results in a gradual but noticeable reduction in submental fullness. Because these cells can no longer accumulate or store fat, once you reach your targeted aesthetic goal, further Kybella treatment is no longer needed.
